Stolen Credit Cards

Overview

Stolen Credit Card Fraud occurs when a fraudster occurs when a fraudster obtains a stolen credit card number, and uses it to make purchases. Once the real owner of the card finds out, they will call their bank and report fraud, asking for a refund. The merchant ultimately eats the cost for the refund. This is called a chargeback. When the fraudsters do this, they don’t have a physical card - just the card number itself.

How does DyScan Protect help?

When you prompt a suspicious user to scan their card through DyScan Protect, DyScan runs the credit card image through our proprietary anti-fraud models. The models detect whether or not the image looks generated (for more context on this, see the section on decline reasons here). This raises the barrier for effort, time, and money to commit fraud on your platform.
